When you think about paradise, you usually think of somewhere that is secluded, a place with long white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, swaying palm trees and a hammock. Well the great news is that, you can find that in beautiful Fiji. The funny thing is that, there is a lot of that in this Country that is sometimes confused for Mt. Fuji in Japan.
Fiji is made up of just over 300 islands in the middle of the South Pacific. The weather is usually sunny all year round so it does not matter when you go there, you will always see and feel the sun. The biggest drawcard for Fiji is the people. Wonderful smiles await you as soon as you get into the country.
In a recent poll, Fiji ranked at the top of the list of ‘Happiest People in the World’. It is that happiness and joy that you will experience here.
Renting a Car and visiting the countryside One of the best things to do is to rent a car and just drive around Fiji’s biggest Island, Viti Levu. Driving around non-stop would take a good 10 hours. The fun however is in a slow drive and stop over’s at the large number of resorts, towns and villages along the way. The main International Airport is located in Nadi. Here is a short itinerary guide to getting around Viti Levu in a rental car.
Travel Itinerary: • First, pick-up a car at Nadi International Airport from one of the many well known and established rental car operators. These include AVIS, Budget Rentals and Central Rent a Car. A basic car is anything from $80 to $150 Fiji dollars which is very affordable.
• Next you could either spend some time in Nadi or drive to Lautoka which is Fiji’s second largest City and home to the biggest Sugar Mill in Fiji.
• From Lautoka, you can drive towards Vatukoula, our Goldmining town and then to Rakiraki where the famous FIJI Water factory is located. Rakiraki is alos home to some great Scuba Diving spots and waterfalls.
• From Rakiraki, there is a long 4 to 5 hour drive along the ‘Sun Coast’ as it is called, before you come to Nausori, where Fiji’s second largest airport is located than on to Suva, the capital of Fiji. In Suva you can shop, visit the museum and do lots of other things.
• From Suva, you can drive towards Navua and Pacific Harbour the adventure capital of Fiji. It is here you can do white water rafting, water ski tours, shark diving, zip lining and so much more.
• From Pacific Harbour, it is about an hour drive along the Coral Coast to Sigatoka that is home to the Sigatoka Sand Dunes and many great resorts. In Sigatoka, there are many great places to go surfing too.
• From Sigatoka, it is about a 45 minute drive back to Nadi where you can just laze around in a resort or go Island hopping or even do some great water sports and cruising.
There is so much more to offer in Fiji. The best way to know about it, is to hop on a plane and visit the country. You will not be disappointed with what you find and experience.
